Qatar Airways is the national flag carrier of Qatar. The airline is among the fastest growing airlines in the world and one among the four airlines that have gained the "five star airline" status from Skytrax, a United Kingdom-based consultancy. Qatar Airways made history in 2003, when it became the first airline in the world to pass IATA’s new, stringent IOSA safety audit. Qatar Airways's chief hub is located at Doha International Airport. History
Qatar Airways was established on November 22, 1993. The airline started its operations on January 20, 1994. It was originally owned by the royal family of Qatar. However, it was re-launched in 1997, under a new management team. Currently, the Government of Qatar holds 50% stake of Qatar Airways and the rest is held by private investors. Over the years, Qatar Airways has grown into one of the most competing airlines in the world.

Cargo Service
Qatar Airways operates a cargo services, named as Qatar Airways Cargo. The New Doha International Airport, which will be opened shortly, is designed to provide freight facilities to the cargo carrier. The cargo service of Qatar Airways covers 21 destinations, 17 of which are also served by Qatar Airways' passenger service, in 52 Countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. Currently, the fleet of Qatar Airways Cargo consists of three Airbus A300-600RF. The airline plans to make use of Boeing 777-F aircraft to ply on its Far East and European routes.

Destinations And Fleet
Presently, Qatar Airways flies to 83 destinations in 52 Countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. In India, Qatar Airways flies to Ahmadabad, Amritsar, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode and Hyderabad. Qatar Airways has a fleet of 63 aircrafts, which includes Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 777-200LR, Airbus A340-600, Airbus A330-300, Airbus A330-200, Airbus A321-200, Airbus A320-200, Airbus A319-100CJ and Airbus A319-100LR.

Services
All the classes onboard Qatar Airways are equipped with excellent facilities, thereby making every ride a comfortable one for its passengers. Accessing live digital satellite television is an added advantage of traveling in the A330 and A340 aircraft of Qatar Airways. The airline is planning to move a step further in providing luxurious services to its passengers - it plans to introduce new flat-bed seats in business class in its upcoming Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.

At the ground, the airline ensures that its customers are satisfied in every possible manner. One such example is the Premium Terminal, a special terminal at its hub - Doha International Airport - operated by it for its First and Business Class passengers. The terminal provides attractive features, including check-in, duty-free shopping, conference rooms, nursery and play area, spa treatment rooms, sauna, Jacuzzi and restaurants.
